Bob Hoffman is a Sr.Vice President with Thompson & Associates, a leader in charitable estate planning services, based in Nashville, TN. He serves his own nonprofit clients and assists a team of fellow Thompson & Associates professionals throughout California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
Bob’s development career has focused entirely on planned giving for hospital foundations, beginning with the St. Helena Hospital Foundation in 1994. Prior to joining Thompson & Associates in 2006 he worked for the St. Joseph Health System as Regional Director of Planned Giving for their five Northern California Hospitals. He has built planned giving programs from start-up to viability, and has helped hundreds of individuals and families provide for their own financial security while creating gifts to the hospitals in the communities where he has worked. In addition to charitable estate planning, his range of professional experience includes high-school teaching, real estate and investment brokerage and sales management.
Bob graduated from Walla Walla University with a B.A. in Religion and Secondary Education. He is one of a select group of individuals to have received his Certified Specialist in Planned Giving designation from California State University, Long Beach. He is a Certified Fundraising Executive as awarded by CFRE International, a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. He also is a Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning from the Institute of Charitable Estate Planning. Bob is a popular speaker at conferences and nonprofit strategic planning sessions on the subject of creating and managing a successful planned giving program.
Bob and his wife, Elaine reside in Napa, CA. and have two married daughters, also living in Napa. He is an active member of the St. Helena Rotary Club, serves on the boards of Sister Ann Community Dental Clinic and Aldea Children and Family Services, and is past president of the St. Helena, California Chamber of Commerce.
